RETIREMENT BOARD SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING
The Subcommittee meeting of the Public Employees' Retirement Board was called
to order at 10:10 a.m., July 10, 2003, in the PERS' Board Room, 693
West Nye Lane, Carson City. Members present: Sue DeFrancesco,
Mark Balen, and Warren Wish. Members absent: None.
- GENERAL BUSINESS

The subcommittee reviewed the timelines and processes utilized in 1994 and 1981 to recruit and select an Executive Officer for PERS.

The subcommittee discussed conducting a nationwide search and the timeline for recruiting and selecting an Executive Officer.

On motion of Sue DeFrancesco, the subcommittee voted unanimously to present the following recommendations to the Retirement Board at their July 16, 2003 meeting:

Nationwide announcement in trade publications (i.e. Wall-Street Journal, Pensions & Investments), professional organizations (NASRA, NCTR) and local newspapers.

Applications to be reviewed for compliance with the requirements of NRS 286.160(3).

The Chairman can appoint a Subcommittee to narrow the candidate pool by utilizing a rubric/grading grid, to not more than 6 candidates for interview by the full Board.

Subcommittee will meet on August 21, 2003, in Las Vegas to determine finalists for interview.

Finalists will be named at the September 25, 2003 Board meeting.

Interviews and selection of an Executive Officer will take place at the October 22, 2003 Board meeting in Las Vegas.
